The Truth About Parenting ADHDers

❌ Traditional parenting advice doesn't work - because ADHD brains are wired differently
❌ Punishments and consequences often backfire - creating more opposition and shame
❌ "Just be consistent" isn't enough - when your child's nervous system works differently

✅ What works: Understanding your child's unique brain and adapting your approach accordingly

What Desperate Parents Tell Us Every Day:

"I don't know what to do when they just don't listen to me unless I yell. I've given up asking gently."

"Mornings are a chaotic mess of frustration. We're always rushing, always stressed."

"I'm exhausted after work, and managing their behaviours when I'm tired overwhelms me completely."

"I can see it's taking a toll on our family. There's resentment and frustration everywhere."

"I lie awake worrying - about school, friendships, their future. Will they ever be okay?"

"I feel hopeless and filled with shame over the way I yell at the child I love most."

Sound familiar? You're not alone - and there's hope.

About Parenting an ADHDer

With so many programs out there, how do you know if this one is for you?

As a Doctor of Clinical Psychology, and Director of the multi-award winning Mindworx Psychology, a private clinical psychology practice in Sydney Australia, I've worked with thousands of parents.

I have a special interest in ADHD. Not just through my work as a Psychologist, but because I am also an ADHDer, in a family of ADHDer's. And - I'm a parent myself.

I'm privileged to be invited to speak regularly and to deliver workshops about neurodiversity to pre-schools, schools, businesses, parents and carers.

I love teaching how to recognise neurodiversity, how to support ADHD and how to thrive with ADHD.

Whether working one-on-one, delivering a workshop, or presenting to a conference - one of the things that brings me most joy is hearing how much life changes for the better when people get the knowledge and tools they need.

I believe in preventative, early intervention for mental health, and am deeply passionate about cutting through the hype. This program is grounded in the latest science, teaches evidence based skills, and values practical, concrete strategies that can be implemented easily.

We'll be focusing on empowering you.

On helping you understand your child, and understand your own specific challenges in parenting.

Teaching you ways to understand and address different challenges.

I don't know about you, but in the last decade of my clinical practice, I've not met a parent who has yelled out "ADHD is a superpower, let's celebrate this" when either they, or their child has been diagnosed.

But I have met many parents who are scared, worried or overwhelmed.

Parents who don't know where to start, or how best to help support their child.

Let's cut free of shame and stigma, and instead get equipped with practical skills and solid knowledge about what ADHD is, and isn't.

About Dr. Amanda's Private Practice Waitlist

Dr. Amanda's waitlist in priovate practice is more than 2+ years. This course gives you immediate access to the same evidence-based strategies she uses with private clients - at a fraction of the cost.

Don't wait 2+ years for help. Start transforming your family life today.

Why I created this course

Due to long waitlists in my Private Practice, I'm no longer able to work personally with everyone seeking help. And, getting help is expensive. I love being able to bring this information to you in a way that's affordable - and that fits into your life.

It fills me with joy to use words like "instant access"!

So here I am, utterly delighted to be able to teach step-by-step, my signature program to parents and carers. Equipping you with ADHD parenting strategies.

I am passionate about ways to help. I know that for parents and carers of children with ADHD it can be difficult to know where to begin. By the time I meet families, they are often overwhelmed, confused and stuggling.

I know from experience working as a Clinical Psychologist that having a framework can make a significant and often immediate difference. It's why I am so passionate about sharing my knowledge and teaching families strategies that work.

✅ Let me teach you how to feel more in control as a parent.

✅ Get the knowledge that will empower you with the skills to parent your children in the way they need.

As a Clinical Psychologist, I have a special interest in neurodiversity, ADHD, anxiety, trauma and emotional regulation. I know how to break strategies down into easy to apply steps for clients.

I am so glad to be able to walk you step-by-step through my signature program for parents and carers, equipping you with ADHD parenting strategies for a happier family life.

Empowering you to parent in ways that help

✅ Understanding how the ADHD brain is wired.

✅Taking complex neuroscience and explaining it with easy to understand teminology

There is a lot going on in ADHD brains. Every person is unique, every family different.

It's heartbreaking when I hear parents describe feeling like failures every time their child is struggling with their ADHD symptoms. They describe yelling, tension and frustration that has become a new normal in their home.

I meet parents who are senior executives running successful businesses and managing teams at work - who resort to threats and punishments at home. Not because they are mean, but because they lack the understanding of what is driving what looks like oppositional behaviour. They haven't learned yet how to manage their child’s behaviour. I meet mums and dads who stay late at work and avoid their family because it feels easier than going home.

I'm Scottish, but I've lived in Australia for 20 years. At the practice, we have worked with thousands of famiies. Parents of children of every age, from different backgrounds and cultures. Every family is unique. Even so, parents often share feelings of powerlessnes, overwhelm, frustration and despair.

They ask:

🤷‍♂️ How can I get my child to stop without a battle - stop fighting, stop gaming, stop watching TV?

🤷‍♂️ How can I get my child to start or finish tasks without having to stand over or remind them ?

🤷‍♂️ How can I calm my child's big emotions down when they are upset?

🤷‍♂️ How can I help instead of yelling?

🤷‍♂️ What's wrong with my child?

Parents describe their own emotional exhaustion - and the toll that challenges are taking on the whole family.  Relationships are being damaged, and parenting joy is lost.

It's a privilege and a joy to work with parents desperate to put an end to the chaos, and find a calmer, gentler approach to parenting.

As a Doctor of Psychology, with a special interest in mental wellbeing, neurodiversity, ADHD, anxiety, trauma and emotional regulation - I've learned:

✅ How to explain decades of research, experience and training in a simple way.

✅ From my individual work with families what helps, and what's a myth.

✅How to break strategies down into easy to apply steps for the people I work with.

✅ That my mission is to share tips, strategies and information that brings positive change.

Protect relationships

Can't get homework done?

Stop yelling, stop nagging.

Start solving, start helping.

Are you ready to...

Let go of punishments and yelling

Say goodbye to shame-filled parenting

The research is clear that parenting techniques like threatening, physical punishment, lecturing, bribing or yelling rarely work. Instead, they can lead to ruptured attachment bonds.

Learn how to avoid parenting in ways that may negatively impact your relationship with your child, leading to shame, anger and low self-esteem.

They tend to make your kids cry, get angry and talk back to you, throw a tantrum or lose their confidence.

They don't help you to keep your cool when your child is throwing a tantrum…

They tend to leave parents feeling powerless, guilty, anxious or stressed out.

And they damage family relationships and bonds.

The people I work with typically know their strategies are not working,.. but they don't yet have the tools and skills to take a different approach.

Perhaps they too have features of ADHD or neurodiversity...

If you are ready for change...

Let me teach you

⚛ Did you know that your child with ADHD experiences the world differently than others?

⚛ Did you know many children with ADHD experience sleep problems, and then sleep like the dead once asleep?

⚛ Have you noticed that your child's attention is hard to capture? That sometimes they seem distracted but at other times hyperfocused?

⚛ Have you noticed your child is at times HYPER (too much) and at times HYPO (too little) where energy and attention are concerned?

What if, since birth there have been differences in their brain and their sensory and nervous systems? Differences that affect the way they process and react to information from the environment?

And what if these were the reasons for what we see as difficult behaviour, restlessness, impulsivity or a lack of control over their emotions?

What if they were born thinking and feeling differently? Neurodiverse, uniquely different. Possessing a range of strengths and weaknesses uniquely their own, but shaped by their environment - learning with a brain differently connected.

We may see struggles in environments designed for neurotypical brains. Struggles with expectations such as 'sitting still to learn'. Misplaced rules that work against a nervous system that regulates itself through movement.

Science tells us those with neurodiversity need different supports to flourish.

It's why yelling, threats and punishments rarely make much difference in changing behaviour.

How will you feel after ten weeks?

It's not enough just to know your child is wired differently

Parents need practical skills to manage ADHD

Let me teach you about the ADHD neurotype - and begin reframing problem behaviours. If you are tired of saying:

I don't know what to do when... they just don’t listen to me unless I yell. I've given up asking gently even if when I have reasonable expectations.

I don't know what to do when... I'm rushing to get to work, or school every day and mornings are a hot chaotic mess of frustration.

I don't know what to do when... I'm exhausted after a long day of work, or taking care of the family. Managing challenging behaviours when I am tired overwhelms me.

I don't know what to do when..... My time and energy is consumed dealing with constant impulsivity. I can't get anything done, or leave them unsupervised. There is no time for myself, or anyone else.

I don't know what to do when... I can see it's taking a toll on the family and our relationships. There is resentment and frustration.

I lie awake worrying about my child, their relationships with friends, the challenges at school, whether they'll be able to get a job when they grow up, or drive a car safely.

I feel hopeless and helpless, and filled with shame over the way I yell at the child I love. I want to smack them and I can't believe I feel this way.

It shouldn’t be THIS hard for them to do homework, follow instructions, get dressed, behave, or just go to sleep, right?

Parents of ADHDers often describe feeling overwhelmed and exhausted. Parenting does not always have to be challenging or draining.

I know the impact ADHD can have on families. It's tough when parents and children don't have the information to understand what is going on. And when the tools and strategies to support the child are not in place.

ADHD challenges don't have to spoil your family time or plans.

✅ You can discover strategies to manage attention, hyperactivity and impulsivity effectively.

✅✅ You can build confidence and pride in your parenting abilities.

✅ ✅✅ You can raise happy and successful kids you’re proud of.

✅✅✅✅ And you can find joy and learn to cherish every single moment of the journey (ok, maybe not every minute !)

A: Yes! The course covers strategies for ages 2-22, with age-specific modifications included.

Q: What if my child doesn't have a formal ADHD diagnosis?

A: The strategies work for any child showing ADHD-type behaviours, regardless of formal diagnosis.

Q: I don't have much time. How long are the lessons?

A: Videos are bite-sized (10-15 minutes) and designed for busy parents - and parents with ADHD. You can learn during naptime, after bedtime, or on your commute.

Q: What if I'm a single parent or my partner isn't on board?

A: The strategies work even if only one parent implements them. Many successful graduates are single parents.

Q: Is this suitable for Autistic children?

A: If your child also has ADHD - so they are diagnosed as, or suspected to be an AuDHDer, then yes, you'll find this course helpful.

Remember that if you've met one neurodivergent person, then you only know what it's like for that one person. We all have different needs - and your child's needs will be unique.

Take what you need from the program, and always, know that I give full permission for you to say "not for my child" to any strategy that doesn't suit them.
